Artist's Statement

Artists often use the term “voice” to describe the manner in which they project their visual message. My voice changes in pitch from painting to painting but remains constant in its vocabulary: limited palette, intrigue, and juxtaposition of light and angles. I concentrate on painting human figures with an emphasis on communicating body language. My focus is on subjects in the urban environment, specifically café and street scenes where I see personal interactions that inspire my visual narratives. I feel that my job as an artist, in part, is to give viewers new insights and new ways of looking at the world.
